Huckleberry picking

Today we went with Grandma & Grandpa Key to their top secret huckleberry patch (we've been sworn to secrecy--if we tell you where it is, we'd have to...well, you know). We were joined by Dennis & Gloria, long-time, secret-huckleberry-patch-worthy, family friends.

Evan did really well. He didn't actually do any picking, but he spent about 2 1/2 hours on daddy's back. As we finished up lunch, it started drizzling, and Evan started looking sleepy. So Grandma Key and mommy stayed behind in the truck (hoping to get Evan to go to sleep...the nap tease that he is never did) while daddy and Grandpa kept picking berries. By late afternoon, our family managed to pick about 2 gallons between us all. Not bad for a day's work.

Here are some pictures of today's adventures.

Great pictures. When we pick black berries, the boys like to pretend that their hands are bleeding...boys...gotta love them!
Now, where was that patch? (smile)

How fun! I remember picking berries as a kid and I loved it... although I ate more than I picked. Glad you guys could all partake in such a fun activity together. So when should I expect my huckleberry pie?!

Oh Evan,

Looks like you've been having so much fun. Picking berries, spinning toys, new hats. I just hate that we're back to reading about it all on a blog and not getting to see you in person.

MC just asked me today if I remembered when we were with Max and Evan and I asked where she was( and i was holding her). Little bit overloaded that night!!

Miss you all terribly!

Fab pictures...and tons of fun...Evan and his Daddy look worn out on the way home. We have a great place to collect blackberries in the riding lane next to our house...the girls go collecting them throughout summer no one else gets chance with the Chan brood.

hugs Les and Amélie xx

Just to let you know...the straps on his carseat are too high, and I can't tell if the chest clip is at chest level.
